What does Calgary lawn sprinkler service include?

Calgary lawn sprinkler service from J and G Irrigation includes three visits per season. Spring startup covers slow pressurization, zone-by-zone coverage walk with head adjustment, City of Calgary certified annual backflow test submitted to the City, rain sensor verification, and controller programming for the June 1 odd/even restriction schedule. Mid-season service in July re-checks head coverage and calibrates smart controller ET scheduling. Fall winterization uses a 185 to 375 CFM commercial compressor to blow all zones clear and close the main shutoff.

How much does Calgary lawn sprinkler service cost per year?

Calgary lawn sprinkler annual maintenance plan pricing from J and G Irrigation ranges from $350 to $420 for essential service on 3 to 4 zone systems covering startup, backflow test, and winterization, $420 to $520 for essential service on 4 to 6 zone systems, $550 to $680 for full service including mid-season visit on 4 to 6 zone systems, and $650 to $820 for full service on 6 to 8 zone systems.

Why do Calgary lawn sprinklers need professional service?

Calgary lawn sprinkler systems require professional service because the City of Calgary annual backflow preventer test must be performed by a certified cross-connection control technician and submitted to the City within 30 days. Non-compliance can result in water service disconnection. Professional spring startup and winterization also prevent the two most common Calgary irrigation failures: incomplete winterization causing freeze pipe damage in fall, and undetected head misalignment causing dead zones and excessive water use all season.

How much does sprinkler winterization cost in Calgary?

Professional sprinkler winterization in Calgary costs $80 to $150 for most residential systems depending on the number of zones. J.G. Irrigation offers flat-rate pricing with no surprise fees. Call 587-433-4795 for an exact quote.

When should I winterize my sprinklers in Calgary?

Calgary sprinkler systems should be winterized before the first hard freeze, typically between late September and mid-October. Booking by September is recommended as appointment slots fill up quickly. A hard freeze (below -4°C overnight) can crack irrigation pipes within hours.

What happens if you don't winterize your sprinklers in Calgary?

Skipping winterization in Calgary can result in cracked pipes, burst valves, broken backflow preventers, and damaged sprinkler heads from ice expansion. Repair costs from freeze damage typically run $300 to $1,500 or more — far exceeding the cost of a professional blowout.

Can I winterize my own sprinkler system?

DIY sprinkler blowouts require a compressor rated at 20+ CFM at 50 PSI and precise knowledge of your zone layout. Improper technique can damage head diaphragms, crack PVC fittings, or leave water in low spots that will freeze. Most Calgary homeowners find professional blowout service the safer and more reliable option.

When should I turn on my sprinklers in Calgary in spring?

The safe window to activate your Calgary sprinkler system is mid-May to early June, once overnight temperatures are consistently above 0°C and the ground has fully thawed to at least 6 inches deep. Activating too early risks pipe damage from ground frost.

What does a spring sprinkler startup include in Calgary?

A professional spring startup includes slowly opening the main water supply valve, pressurizing each zone, inspecting every sprinkler head for damage, adjusting head rotation and arc, checking the backflow preventer, testing the controller schedule, and confirming full coverage across all zones.

How do I know if my sprinkler system has a leak?

Common signs of a Calgary sprinkler leak include soggy or waterlogged patches on your lawn, a sudden spike in your water bill, uneven watering across zones, sprinkler heads that stay up after the system shuts off, unusually green stripes in the grass, and soft or sinking spots in the yard.

How fast can J.G. Irrigation fix a broken sprinkler system?

J.G. Irrigation offers same-week sprinkler repair service across Calgary. Most residential repairs — broken heads, leaking valves, stuck pop-ups — are completed in 1 to 3 hours. Call 587-433-4795 or book online for priority scheduling.

How much does sprinkler repair cost in Calgary?

Sprinkler repair in Calgary typically costs $75 to $250 for common issues like broken heads, stuck pop-ups, or clogged nozzles. Valve replacements run $100 to $300. Underground pipe repairs depend on depth and length but usually fall between $200 and $600 for residential systems.

Calgary Lawn Sprinkler Service: Full Annual Service for Your Irrigation System

A Calgary lawn sprinkler system needs three professional service visits per year to perform reliably, stay in City of Calgary compliance, and reach its full 20-30 year service life: spring startup with backflow testing, optional mid-season adjustment, and fall winterization. Homeowners who skip or delay these services commonly face expensive spring repairs, City non-compliance notices, and premature system failure from inadequate winterization. J&G Irrigation provides all three annual lawn sprinkler service visits throughout Calgary.

Spring Lawn Sprinkler Startup (May)

The J&G Irrigation spring startup service includes slow pressurization of the irrigation supply, zone-by-zone coverage walk with head adjustment, City of Calgary certified annual backflow preventer test with results submitted to the City, rain sensor function verification, and controller programming for the June 1 odd/even restriction schedule. A written service report is provided. Most Calgary residential startups are completed in 2-3 hours.

Mid-Season Lawn Sprinkler Service (July)

The July mid-season service re-checks head coverage after May freeze-thaw soil settlement, recalibrates smart controller ET scheduling for peak July water demand, cleans nozzle filter screens clogged by Calgary water mineral deposits, and identifies any heads or valves showing early failure signs that should be replaced before fall. This visit is included in J&G Irrigation full-service annual maintenance plans.

Fall Lawn sprinkler winterization (September-October)

Fall winterization is the most time-critical Calgary lawn sprinkler service. A 185-375 CFM compressor blows each zone until only dry air exits, the main shutoff is closed, backflow drain cocks are opened, and the controller is set to standby. Book by September 15 for pre-freeze availability. Plan customers receive priority scheduling. Call 587-433-4795.
