Calgary Irrigation System Warranty: What Is Covered and How Long
Not all Calgary irrigation warranties are equal. A 90-day warranty from an uncertified installer and a 2-year parts and labour warranty from an IA-certified professional cover very different scenarios. Here is what J.G. Irrigation's warranty covers, what it excludes, and what to watch for when evaluating any irrigation contractor's warranty offer.
J.G. Irrigation 2-Year Warranty: Coverage Details
| Item | Coverage | Term |
|---|---|---|
| SCH 40 PVC pipe and fittings | Manufacturing defects and installation failures | 2 years |
| Hunter / Rain Bird heads | Manufacturing defects; replacement at no charge | 2 years |
| Zone valves and solenoids | Valve failure from normal use or installation defect | 2 years |
| Rachio 3 controller | Manufacturer warranty (3 years) + J.G. Irrigation labour on any warranty claim | 3 years (manufacturer) |
| Backflow preventer | Manufacturing defect — assembly body and seals | 2 years |
| Labour for all covered repairs | No additional labour charge on warranty claims | 2 years |
What Calgary Irrigation Warranties Typically Exclude
| Exclusion | Reason |
|---|---|
| Freeze damage (missed blowout) | Owner responsibility — annual blowout required to maintain warranty |
| Physical damage (lawn mower impact) | External damage beyond contractor control |
| Root intrusion over time | Long-term natural process — not a defect |
| Damage from third-party work (digging) | Contractor cannot control utility or landscaping work by others |
Why Annual Blowout Is Required to Maintain Warranty
J.G. Irrigation's 2-year warranty requires annual professional blowout each fall — typically documented by J.G. Irrigation performing the blowout themselves or with a signed blowout receipt from a professional service. Freeze damage from a missed or inadequate blowout is excluded from warranty because it is entirely preventable and the owner has direct control over whether it occurs. This is industry standard across all reputable Calgary irrigation contractors.
