About J.G. Irrigation Calgary — IA-Certified Irrigation Company Serving Calgary Since Day One

J.G. Irrigation is a family-owned irrigation and outdoor lighting company based in Calgary, Alberta. We provide residential and commercial irrigation installation, repair, seasonal maintenance, landscape lighting, and permanent roofline lighting throughout Calgary and the surrounding region. Every service we perform is backed by Irrigation Association (IA) certification — the irrigation industry’s highest professional credential for field technicians.

IA-Certified Expertise — What That Means for You

Irrigation Association certification is not a membership badge or a registration fee. It is a technical examination that tests hydraulic principles, irrigation system design, water efficiency standards, soil science, controller programming, and proper winterization technique. IA Certified Irrigation Technicians (CIT) are tested on the principles that determine whether your irrigation system delivers consistent, efficient coverage or wastes water and develops chronic performance problems.

When you hire J.G. Irrigation, the technician who arrives at your property holds an active IA certification — tested on the same design and efficiency standards that govern your system’s performance. This is meaningful for several practical reasons:

• Systems designed by IA-certified technicians achieve distribution uniformity above 0.75 on turf zones — meaning your lawn receives consistent coverage, not the 50 to 65 percent uniformity common in non-certified designs
• Fall blowout performed to the IA-specified 185 CFM minimum ensures complete lateral evacuation, not partial purging from undersized rental compressors
• Spring startup inspections by certified technicians identify developing component failures using system-level knowledge, not just visual observation
• Controllers are programmed for Calgary’s watering restriction schedule and calibrated to ET-based run times — not default settings that ignore Calgary’s specific climate data

Calgary-Based, Family-Owned Service

J.G. Irrigation is a family-owned business, not a franchise or a branch of a national company. The owners are involved in every aspect of the business — from estimating to scheduling to field service. When you call 587-433-4795, you are dealing with the people who will actually perform your service, not a call centre that routes requests to subcontractors.

This structure has practical implications for clients:

• Consistent technician assignment — contract clients often see the same technician each season, building genuine system-specific knowledge
• Owner accountability — service quality is directly tied to the reputation of a business the owners have built
• No franchise overhead — pricing reflects actual Calgary service costs, not national franchise fee structures
• Direct communication — questions go directly to the service team, not through a customer service layer

Our Commitment to Correct Work

Irrigation work done correctly from the beginning is substantially less expensive than irrigation work done incorrectly and then corrected. A system designed with proper zone hydrozoning, correct head spacing, and calibrated run times for Calgary soil conditions delivers better lawn performance with less water than a system designed without these principles — and requires fewer mid-season repairs because the fundamental design is sound.

We do not cut corners on compressor specification during blowout because we have repaired too many systems that were “blown out” with undersized equipment. We do not skip the backflow preventer drain step because we have replaced too many cracked brass bodies in May. We do not design systems without calculating distribution uniformity because we have diagnosed too many chronic dry patch problems caused by original design deficiencies.

IA certification provides the technical standard. Family ownership provides the accountability. The combination produces irrigation work that performs correctly, season after season, for the homeowners who trust us with their systems.
