sprinkler blowout in High River Alberta: Foothills Irrigation Winterization

High River is a growing Foothills community approximately 60 km south of Calgary, with a mix of older established homes and newer subdivisions developed after the 2013 flood rebuild. J.G. Irrigation provides professional sprinkler blowout service throughout High River with no travel surcharge.

High River Irrigation Context

High River experienced significant rebuilding after the 2013 flood, creating a large stock of post-2013 homes (2014-2020) with modern irrigation systems featuring smart controllers and professional-grade components. Older pre-2013 homes range widely in irrigation quality. Both categories require professional fall blowout to protect against Foothills freeze damage.

Foothills Freeze Timing

High River elevation and Foothills exposure means its first hard freeze arrives between September 28 and October 10 in most years. We recommend booking in the September 22 through October 5 window. Chinook winds create a dangerous false-warm pattern — a 20C Chinook day can be followed by -15C within 48 hours when the Chinook breaks. Never delay blowout because of a current warm spell in the Foothills.

Post-Flood Rebuild Systems

Post-2013 High River rebuild homes (2014-2020) are now 6-12 years old — entering their first normal maintenance window. Head inspection, valve check, and controller assessment are included in every blowout service regardless of system age.
